OPTION ONE:
Research one aquatic food web and one terrestrial food web. Find 2 pictures and post to the class wiki along with the links.
Predict: Write a scenario about what you think would happen if one of the parts of the food web disappeared or became extinct. How would it impact the health of the food web? How would it impact our lives as humans?
Minimum Length: ½ page typed

PREDICT : If one of the animals on any of he food change wood fall out of it, it would hurt us humans. In the the terrisoral food web, if say a bear fell out, then there would be an over populated deer, marmot... small animals. so then that would make it harder for use to not, over hunt and it wold also be dangerous for their safety. As in we have cars and machianes and tehy can in to them. So the bears help us, they kill them like they are sopposted to. In other words, it can help us to. Cause' that gives us more reasons to keep forests and lands, and in all, we need them- like tress- to live and it is better for the earth. cleaner.

If the top of the food web died off I predict that the organisms in the bottom of the food web will either overpopulate or the bottom of the food web will over eat their food and eventually the middle part will die off. Because the prey will not be hunted by their natural predators. If the middle section of the food web died off, the top would either die or might have to adapt to the new enviorment by eating the bottom part
of the food web. If the bottom part died then the middle section will die and then later the top will die. If any of these situations happened we would probably need to rely on plants or genetic engineered food.
i think that if the top of the food chain died off it would be pretty okay because there would just be someone else who would move to the top but if the bottom of the food chain were to die off there would be mass crisis i think that we do have a diverse enviroment so it would be replaces everntually but when and at what cost i do not know.
Look at this picture of an Aquatic Food Web. What if the Redear Sunfish becomes instinct? Both the prey and the predator would be affected. Not only them but the prey and predators of those organisms will be affected.
The prey of fish is clams. The clams would grow in population because there is no fish to eat them. Now that the population of the clams is growing, the algae that they feed off of will disappear rapidly. Soon there would not be enough food for all the clams. The predator of the Redear Sunfish is the Largemouth Bass fish. They will starve because their food has now disappeared. The people also suffer because of their loss of food .
The terrestrial food web.

OPTION TWO:
Create an Actual Food Chain from land or water using graphics or clip art using PowerPoint or another imaging program. Include whether your food web is aquatic or terrestrial.
Note: Should include at least 5 organisms in the food chain.
If one of the parts of the food web were taken away, then the organisms that it is trying to control might multiply and then drive away the other organisms. For example, if the fox was removed from the top food web, then puffins would multiply there numbers, eating all of the cephalopods and fish, therefore letting the zooplankton eat all of the phytoplankton, and depleting the ocean of nutrients. As you can see, it is a domino effect.
